  • Participating students will perform at a professional performance venue

Contents

This year, the programme continues to focus on dance creation.  Through physical exploration and technique training, students will be encouraged to be present, and to learn with an open, curious, and accepting attitude, unlocking the potential power and uniqueness of their bodies.  Simultaneously, the programme aims to nurture students' creative thinking abilities, allowing them to express their emotions through art, and gain more motivation, hope and direction, thereby promoting personal growth.

This year's creative theme focuses on holistic health and wellness.  "The 8 Pillars of Holistic Health and Wellness"* will serve as the starting point of the creative process of the students.  They will engage in discussions and guided creation to inspire creative thinking and infuse positive energy.  The students will then explore themes of personal interest and express them physically, gradually developing these into unique works for their respective schools.

*Holistic health is connected through "The 8 Pillars of Holistic Health and Wellness", including physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, financial, environmental, and nutritional aspects.

Implementation

  • From September 2024 to July 2025
  • The programme will run for 11 months in three phases

Phase 1:
In-school Introductory Dance Performance (1 performance)

September to October 2024

This interactive introductory dance performance will allow students and teachers to learn more about the programme contents and how to appreciate the art of dance through modern dance performance with stage lighting and visual effects, video appreciation and interactive sessions.  Participating schools should reserve the school hall for the performance.

Phase 2:
Creation and Dance Training Workshop (Primary Schools: 30 sessions, Secondary Schools: 29 sessions)

October 2024 to July 2025

The workshop comprises two components: "Body Development" and "Dance Creation".  In the first part, the "Body Development" workshop focuses on fundamental dance techniques and modern dance combinations, guiding the students to explore their bodies and uniqueness.  The second part, the "Dance Creation" workshop, incorporates improvisation games and creative exercises as an introduction to lead the students to explore creative elements such as space, form, rhythm, and emotion, thus cultivating creative thinking.  Moreover, the instructors will guide the students in collecting creative materials from daily life, developing and choreographing their pieces, and inspiring their creativity to respond to the themes in dance creation.  Following the creative process, the instructor and students will integrate their creations by appreciating and discussing with each other.

Phase 3:
Joint-school Finale Performance (1 performance)

July 2025

The finale performance will be held at a professional performance venue outside school.  Instructors will integrate the creative work of each participating student and choreograph the finale performance.  They are also encouraged to take an active part in the making of props and sets to enhance the stage effect.  Instructors will also coordinate arrangements for costumes, music and artistic direction of the performance.
