About the Programme

Caṅkramati is the seventh theatrical meditation production by Tsang Man-tung.  

Utilizing an optical microscope to closely observe the world, the performance sets out to capture the magnified forms of all things.  The resulting images will be projected and interacted with movements and music.  Performers on stage will inspire the audience and transport them away from the familiar and into the realm of the microscopic.  In addition to singing bowls, performances of the flute, cello, electronic music and sounds recorded from nature will be combined into a harmonious whole.  Immersive sound design will further enhance the effect–enveloping the space, resonating with the visuals of the microscopic world, and creating a meditative experience that combines sight and sound to allow the audience to reconnect with the source of life.

About the Art Group

Tsang Man-tung is a stage designer and singing bowl performer in Hong Kong.  Since the first of his previous six theatrical meditation productions, Tsang has dedicated himself to incorporating meditation into the theatre, inspiring audiences to experience theatre productions with a calm and peaceful mind.  Previous theatrical meditation productions include The Heart Sutra, Vipassana, Silence in the Wood (Shenzhen), The Light of Metempsychosis, Ashtanga and Sonic Tranquility.

SAMANA is a non-profit organisation registered under the name of Tsang Man-tung in 2021, with a view to produce high quality atmospheric theatrical productions to promote theatre arts and multi-arts performances.
