About the workshop

Created by Musette Tsang, an experienced children’s drama educator and Creative Director of One Table Two Chairs Charitable Foundation, the training workshop for teachers introduces Cantonese Opera and Naamyam (Cantonese narrative singing) in an engaging way, with professional Cantonese opera performer demonstrating movements and gestures to help participants experience Chinese aesthetics.  The workshop also features an exclusive Naamyam nursery rhyme to showcase this art form’s unlimited possibilities.  Musette will provide guidance and lead the participants to design Chinese culture child-oriented learning activities.  The workshop aims to enhance teacher’s understanding of Cantonese opera and Naamyam, and equip them with pedagogy strategies and techniques to better connect with kindergarten and primary school students, boosting their confidence and professional development in teaching Chinese culture and art.

The workshop is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series.  The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture. About the tutor

Musette is the founder and Creative Director of One Table Two Chairs Charitable Foundation and a part-time tutor at the School of Chinese Opera in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA).  She was also invited as a guest lecturer at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Baptist University.  Musette combines her knowledge and experience of Western stage performance, children's drama education, and Cantonese opera to promote the aesthetics of traditional opera in innovative way.  She is renowned for curating captivating performances and dedicated to bring traditional opera culture in line with the world stage to expand the Cantonese opera audience to the younger, non-Chinese-speaking generation. Her recent cross-disciplinary productions include The Past and Presence of Naamyam – Interactive and Educational Touring Performance, Dic Dic Chang Chang Playground – Cantonese Opera X Children’s Interactive Theatre, General Zhou Yu Duk Duk Chang – Cantonese Opera X Drama Theatre, Sing Along with Lok Lok – Naamyam Music Theatre, and Soul Travel – Naamyam X HK-pop Music Video.
