About the Programme 

The programme is in three parts.  The first part is a performance of excerpts from a wen (civil) opera The Farewell from The Butterfly Lovers and a wu (martial) opera Mu Guiying's Marriage Proposal.  The participants will be immersed in the genre and quickly grasp the features of Cantonese opera.  The second part consists of  introduction and demonstration by the performers from the troupe.  Hand gestures in Cantonese opera, such as riding a horse, crossing a bridge, as well as Mandarin pronunciation for Cantonese opera will be demonstrated.  The third part is an interactive session for the students to practise simple hand gestures and Mandarin on stage.

The Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe aims to provide systematic training and performance opportunities for local talented young people to improve their artistic skills, guiding them to become the inheritors who help preserve and rejuvenate this traditional art form.
