Fong Fong Projet d'Art - Arts On Air for Secondary Schools 2023/24

"Arts On Air: Creative Arts Project in Primary Schools" has been implemented since the 2019/20 school year.  The scheme provides a chance for junior primary students to get in touch with the art of radio drama, arousing their interest in performing arts through original radio dramas, guided appreciation materials and extension activities.  In the light of the success of the project, "Arts On Air for Secondary Schools" is rolled out in 2023/24 to extend the programme to secondary schools.  Through a series of workshops, secondary students will create their own radio dramas and experience the production process.

Highlights and Objectives

  • A 4-5 months short-term radio drama training programme
  • Suitable for all secondary schools that are interested in radio drama
  • To teach students in creating their own radio dramas, enhancing their speaking skills through a series of workshops, and to learn about sound effect production
  • Aims at enabling students to review their everyday life, observe and appreciate the messages conveyed by people and things around them while creating their own radio dramas
  • Includes workshops and in-school finale performance

Contents

This programme lets students experience the comprehensive creation and production process of radio drama through an interactive and creative learning approach.  Students will experience the process of script writing, character development, dialogue writing, sound effect design as well as recording.  In the finale performance, students will give live performances in front of their schoolmates, presenting their own original radio dramas in "one take" so as to share what they have learned from the programme.  Throughout the programme, students will learn critical listening, sound aesthetics appreciation, sound effect creation, as well as dialogue and emotion expression, while gaining valuable teamwork experience.
