PAT01 | "Where does imagination end and reality begin?" by Film Programmes Office  (Completed)

The Film Screening with Post-screening Talk
Film Programmes Office organises quality film screening and education programmes for the youths to promote the appreciation in film and media arts.  Not an usual horror film about good versus evil, Night of the Demon as the most refined of Jacques Tourneur’s horror classic is concerned with the cinematic expression of fear and ambiguity; Tourneur’s masterful mise-en-scène and his considered conception of sound and space form a world of chilliness, whose unsettling effect reminds one of nothing but pure suspense and pure cinema.  Post-screening talk conducted in Cantonese after the screening.

Night of the Demon (aka Curse of the Demon)
1957 | UK | B&W | 96mins
In English with Chinese subtitles

Famed scholar John Holden travels to the UK to attend a conference of paranormal psychology, during which he intends to expose Dr Karswell’s Satanic cult. A parchment with runic symbols secretly passed on to him by Karswell, however, becomes his death curse. A non-believer of the power of the darkness, Holden’s conviction to science and logic is challenged by a series of encounters that blur the line between imagination and reality.
