M13a | Fun Science Exploration (Primary & Secondary) (Completed)


Teachers can select activities according to the interest of their students and freely guide them through the exhibits in the Museum.

Activity 1: Science Demonstration (Compulsory)
(Activity for all students.  Each session is about 20 minutes.)

Odd months: The Fun of Static Electricity
Have you ever had an electric shock by static electricity before?  In this science demonstration, you can learn about the power of high static electricity using a Van de Graaff generator.

Even months: Laboratory in Chaos
Dr. Crazy of Science Museum will perform various breathtaking experiments such as hydrogen explosion and fireball blowing!  He will also invite smart students to assist him.  Are you bold enough to accept the mission?

*Activity 2: Science Excursion
(Each session is about 30 minutes.)

Our docents will lead students through galleries and introduce exhibits related to the curriculum topics for students to learn basic science knowledge.

*Activity 3: Highlighted Tours
(Each session is about 30 minutes.  Schools can select to visit at most two galleries.)

Our docents will lead students through designated galleries and provide explanations to enhance students’ understanding of science in our daily lives.  Relevant activity sheets are available for download on the museum website.  Students are encouraged to complete the activity sheets afterwards to consolidate their learning.

*Activity 4: Exploration Activity
(Suitable for P.4-6 students.  Each session is about 30 minutes.)

Students will conduct a series of interesting hands-on experiments.  Through the inquiry process, students can enhance scientific thinking and develop science process skills.

Odd months: Newton's laws of motion
Newton's laws of motion are closely related to our daily lives.  Let's test them out.

Even months: Visible sound
Through different experiments, students can understand how sound is produced, how fast it travels, and how to play music with resonance.

*Activity 5: Biodiversity Workshop
(Suitable for primary school students.  Each session is about 20 minutes.)

Butterfly Watch (NEW)
Butterflies are the second largest order among all insect groups.  They are extremely diverse in terms of morphology and colour.  What is the secret of their survival strategy?  This workshop will tell you all about the senses and habits of butterflies and the common butterfly species in Hong Kong.

*The activities are arranged with quotas and on a first come, first served basis.  The Museum will inform participating schools about details of the arrangement at a later date.
