PAC01 | An Emperor Travelling Incognito Flirted with a Commoner and The Warrior’s Marriage Cantonese Opera Excerpts Demonstration Performance by Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe  (Completed)parent

The Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe aims to provide systematic training and performance opportunities for local young talents to improve their artistic skills, to nurture them becoming the inheritors who help preserve and rejuvenate this traditional art form.

The programme is in three parts.  First is a performance of excerpts from a Wen (civil) opera An Emperor Travelling Incognito Flirted with a Commoner and a Wu (martial) opera The Warrior’s Marriage.  The participants will be immersed in the genre and quickly grasp the features of Cantonese opera.  The second part consists of an introduction and demonstration by actors from the troupe.  The students will be taught Cantonese opera hand gestures, such as riding a horse, crossing a bridge, as well as Mandarin pronunciation for Cantonese opera.  The third part is an interactive session for the students to practise simple hand gestures and Mandarin.
