M11a | The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: "Botticelli and His Times ─ Masterworks from the Uffizi" Guided Tour (Completed)parent

A cultural movement that grew out of Florence, the Renaissance was a period in history when people rediscovered and developed a renewed interest in the classic Greek and Roman cultures. Humanist ideas were embraced in various fields such as philosophy, art and scientific research, with a focus on humanity, exploration and the discovery of truth.

Through the display of over 40 precious works from the Uffizi Galleries and other art museums in Florence, this exhibition presents the humanist ideals pursued by artists at the time, as reflected in their human portraits and religious themed paintings. The exhibition focuses on the paintings of Sandro Botticelli, while also including the important works of other masters such as Filippo Lipi. By taking a deeper look at the relationships between the artists and their patrons, the exhibition explores the roles played by the Medici family and members of the literati in heralding the dawn of a defining era in history.

Remark: The programme is conducted in Cantonese/English/Mandarin.
