Over the past 150 years, Hong Kong has developed from a “barren rock” into an international metropolis. Even in a modern city like this, however, locals still celebrate traditional beliefs and festivals where dragon and lion dances are performed. In this programme, students will visit the exhibition gallery to learn more about local folk customs and their place in Hong Kong’s development, and this is followed by an activity where they can construct a dragon dance figure using building blocks and enjoy a colourful video on local traditional festivals.

"Patszikui" (100 cabinets, implied meaning of many sons and grandsons), which usually has about 100 small drawers, is used in a traditional Chinese medicine shop to store various herbal medicine. A serial of drawers from bottom to top, would be pulled out and stepped by the counter staff to reach the medicine kept near the top. In this workshop, the instructor will take students to visit the exhibition gallery and introduce the history and interior design of the Shing Chai Tong Herbal Medicine Shop. In addition, the students will have a chance to make a model of "Patszikui", so as to learn more about the traditional Herbal Medicine Shop.
