Contents

This programme spotlights a renowned figure from Chinese history or literature each year, such as Yue Fei, Hua Mulan or Cao Cao, focusing on their most controversial or captivating episodes as the basis for creative work.

This year, the spotlight is on The Battle Song of Mulan, adapted from the ancient Chinese legend of the hero Hua Mulan, originally based on The Ballad of Mulan.  Exploring the content through "Process Drama", the original work is reimagined interactively to immerse students in this timeless narrative.  Through collaborative creation, students develop unique storylines that culminate in a performance.

During the creative journey, students delve into the values represented by the legendary figure, such as resilience and team spirit.  They examine character traits within the story while also learning teamwork—respecting one another's opinions and creativity as they collectively take responsibility for both creation and performance.  Through drama, students deepen their understanding of Chinese culture and discover new avenues for self-expression during the creative process.

The programme concludes with a 10-12-minute in-school performance following rehearsals.  Guided by professional instructors, students experience the entire theatrical production process, unlocking their creativity and potential while embracing the joy of performance.
