Content

Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. Also known as “musicals”, they are performed all around the world in different venues, from Broadway and West End theatres, on international tours, to local community theatres and schools. This popular art form is both entertaining and artistically challenging.

The Future Game is a comprehensive musical theatre education project for primary and secondary schools. On completion of the year-long training, Prop Story, The Three Trespassers and “Science and Fiction” will be produced and performed by students through the collaboration among schools and theatres professionals.

1. Musical Theatre Programme
Prop Story
(for primary schools with some musical theatre production experience)

Prop Story is a musical adventure for children and families, with the theme on environmental protection and waste reduction. It tells the story of a group of stage props, once performed on stage with fame and glory, now sitting in the storage room waiting to be disposed as rubbish. They all have their specialties and multiple functions, which were not fully utilized before. With a little help from an artist, these props finally find a way to get on to the stage again, showcasing their variety functions and being treasured.
As an education programme, it explores the many ways of reuse and recycle of theatre props and other materials in general, as well as introduces the unique art form of musical theatre and its different styles, with a series of exciting and sensational song-and-dance numbers.

The Three Trespassers
(for secondary schools with some musical theatre production experience)

Three young teenagers wander the streets in the early evening aimlessly. While they are all talented in their own ways, they lack any direction in life. The three friends approach a large fenced off property and spray on the wall. Suddenly some small aerial drones fly by, hover above them, before proceeding towards the property on the other side of the wall and fenced area. They are curious and decided to enter unwarranted. Using their strength and agility, they leap over the wall and hack the code on the security gate to allow themselves to waltz in… They encounter HR-999, the security robots and Professor Sane who teaches the three trespassers some valuable lessons.

2. Song & Dance Programme
Science and Fiction
(for primary and secondary schools with no/less musical theatre production experience)

Science and Fiction is a mini-musical comprised of a series of non-stop song and dance numbers, selected from award-winning Broadway and movie musicals inspired by science and fiction. The programme will be educational and entertaining to showcase the influence of musical theatre in the world of arts. Suitable for primary and secondary school students, it takes the performers and audiences a tour with a variety of music and dance styles of many Broadway musicals.
