Content

Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. Also known as “musicals”, they are performed all around the world, from Broadway and West End theatres, on international tours, to local community theatres and schools. This popular art form is both entertaining and artistically challenging.

On completion of the year-long training, the participating students, in collaboration with the theatrical professionals, will perform three musicals From Pages to Engages, Groovy Garbage “Take the Lead” and Small Changes, Big Impact.

1. Musical Theatre Programme

For Primary Schools (with some musical theatre production experience)
From Pages to Engages

"It’s bedtime, kids!" After surrendering the gaming devices to their parents, Alice and Kevin are still wide awake and the parents suggest to read a story book together...... From the dark mystical forest to the colourful dreamland, they role play the protagonists of the stories, toying with available objects in the room as props and costumes.

From Pages to Engages is a fun, imaginative and engaging musical fantasy for the whole family. When we read the words on the pages, we are free to create the images in our head as well as adventures and heart-warming scenes. In between the pages are sensational songs and energetic dance sequences, making this musical fantasy come true.

For Secondary Schools
Groovy Garbage “Take the Lead”

This musical adventure takes place in Garbage Grove, a typical landfill. Except in Garbage Grove, the trash believe that they should not belong to the landfill or garbage bin yet. The trash decide to fight for their survival believing in a long life ahead of them if they can be given another chance at the recycling centre.

Our characters, Mortimer the mouse, Cedric the cereal box, Susie the soda pop bottle, Creamo creme the soda can, Polly the plastic milk jug and many more have a lot to teach us about our environment and how to make a difference.

2. Song-and-dance Programme (for primary schools with no/less musical theatre production experience)

Small Changes, Big Impact

Small Changes, Big Impact is a mini-musical comprised of a series non-stop song-and-dance numbers, selected from award-winning Broadway and famous movie musicals. The programme will be educational and entertaining to showcase the influence of musical theatre in the world of arts. Suitable for primary school students, it takes the performers and audiences a tour with a variety of music and dance styles of many Broadway musicals.
