PAM01 | Vivaldi and Piazzolla: The Four Seasons  X The Four Seasons (In Cantonese) (Completed)parent

What do Antonio Vivaldi and Astor Piazzolla have in common? Both of them were virtuoso performers, musicians with super showy technique. They both are prolific composers for their instruments, Vivaldi wrote more than 200 pieces for the violin, Piazzolla wrote even more for his bandoneon as his quintet. Though they lived 300 years apart, they chose to write about similar themes. In this concert, Andrew Ling and several local musicians will perform the excerpt of Four Seasons from both composers. You will be able to hear how music evolves in 300 years and see how they describe nature such as birds, dogs, storm etc. with music.

Currently the Principal Violist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil), Ling has garnered acclaim for his orchestral playing and solo recitals worldwide. He appeared with the HK Phil, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and China Film Symphony Orchestra as concert soloist. Ling brought his musicianship to conducting engagements with the HK Phil, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, Kunming Nie Er Symphony Orchestra, Finland's Seinäjoki City Orchestra and Kuopio Symphony Orchestra. He worked alongside some of the world's foremost conductors, including Jaap van Zweden, Edo de Waart, Jun Märkl and Leonard Slatkin.
