PAM05 | Chinese Music Concert: All about Chinese Musical Instruments-Bowed Strings, Plucked Strings, Winds & Percussion by the Music Office (In Cantonese) (Completed)parent

In ancient China, musical instruments were generally classified into eight categories based on the materials of the instruments made, namely gold, stone, silk, bamboo, gourd, clay, leather and wood, or together called the bayin (Eight Sounds). Nowadays, the musical instruments commonly used in a modern Chinese orchestra are divided into four categories: winds, plucked strings, bowed strings and percussion. What kind of instruments are they? How do they differ from those of the bayin (Eight Sounds) in ancient China? You may get to know more about it through a delightful concert programme with the selected Chinese classics to be presented by the Music Office Instructors’ Chinese Orchestra.
