Set against the backdrop of a traditional Chinese family, this project explores inter-generational differences and clashes of values in the form of musical theatre.  At the "De Ying Tong" martial arts hall, a written Chinese couplet meaning "Exercising firmness with gentleness, maintaining uprightness through precision.  Mastering bodily currents and internal mechanism to gain overall control" has hung at the entrance for nearly half a century, bearing witness to the rise and decline of the martial arts trade.  "Ah Chan", master of the hall, is facing a mid-life career crisis, struggling with the pressures of inheritance of ancestral enterprise, parental expectations, family burden, and an uncertain future.  Should he hold on, let go, or transform?  As traditions fade in the currents of time, what does "inheritance" truly mean?  Preserving the ancient skills, or carrying on with the philosophy and opening up a new path?  Join us to seek for a future direction for "De Ying Tong".​

The project is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
