PAC09 | Chinese Culture Festival 2026: Chinese Opera Festival —Chinese Opera En Route to Campus


With a view to nurture participating students' interest in Chinese opera and to enhance their knowledge in the history and characteristics of this traditional art form, the programme will explore different Chinese operatic genres of Chinese Opera Festival such as Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera and Cantonese Opera.  Guided talks, excerpt performances, demonstration of basic skills, gesture and movement, interactive activities and mobile exhibition will be carried out to enable students to learn and enjoy.

Demonstrations and performances include:
Introduction of Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera and Cantonese Opera: origin and development, character roles and specialties, artistic features, vocal style, demonstration of basic skills, gesture and movement, interactive learning and appreciation of excerpt performances.

Mobile exhibitions include:
Introduction of Chinese Opera Festival 2025 different Chinese operatic genres with images: history and dissemination, artistic features, legacy and innovation etc.

Remarks

Technical requirement:

1. The venue should be equipped with projection that can show PowerPoint, audio and visual equipment that can play MP3, WMA, CD, VCD, DVD and USB etc.

2. Standard general lighting, wireless microphones and clip microphones.

4. The performing group needs to arrive at least 2 hours before the commencement time for set up.
