About the Programme 

Taksu – The Spirit of Gamelan brings together the rich traditions of Chinese drums and Malay and Balinese gamelan in a captivating cross-cultural musical dialogue.  Directed by renowned Balinese musician I Wayan Sudirana and Malaysian actor-director Ghafir Akbar, the performance explores "Taksu", the ancient Balinese concept of spiritual energy that ignites artistic expression.

Experience a unique fusion where HANDS Percussion blends Balinese gamelan techniques with Chinese drumming.  The metallic melodies of gamelan interweave with the powerful resonance of Chinese Shigu drums.  The programme also brings traditional instruments alongside haunting vocals and evocative choreography that bring ancient stories to life on stage.
