About the Programme

Celebrating the life of Pan Yulin—China's first female Western-style painter and patriot—this musical integrates drama, music, dance, visual art, and multimedia.  It traces her journey from meeting Pan Zanhua, studying under Hong Ye, and attending Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, to furthering her artistic training in France, teaching, and leading the Chinese Art Association in France.  Devoted to nurturing young artists, she insisted her works return to China.

After acclaimed sold-out performances in 2025, Musical Pan Yu Lin received 2025 National Arts Fund support to further realize its artistic vision.  The production is not only an affectionate tribute to a generation of legendary painters, but also strives to become a stage masterpiece that integrates Eastern and Western aesthetics.
