About the Project

"Hong Kong Guided Tours" takes participants on tours around Hong Kong, offering insight into the characteristics of music in a multicultural society shaped by the fusion of East and West, while exploring of how traditional music genres and original works are promoted and transmitted.

The project includes family music theatre "The Music Treasure Map of Cheung Po-tsai", which traces the footsteps of Cheung Po-tsai and brings the concept of "tourism is everywhere" to life through Chinese music.  It also features lecture recital "Our Homeland", showcasing Hong Kong's rich cultural heritage of traditional music by introducing five major genres closely connected with Hong Kong, namely Cantonese music, Chaozhou music, Hakka Han music, Jiangnan Sizhu and Fujian Nanyin.  This project also comprises music demonstrations and talks, workshops and exhibitions, offering participants a multi-perspective insight into the depth and versatility of Hong Kong's Chinese music culture.

The project is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
