PAC01 | Cantonese Opera Excerpts Demonstration Performance: Mu Guiying's Marriage Proposal and Chastising the Princess by Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupeparent

About the Programme

The programme consists of three parts:

The first part introduces the origins and development of Cantonese opera, its artistic features such as "singing, acting, reciting, and fighting", as well as its symbolic and virtual elements.  This aims to enhance its appeal and make it easier for primary and secondary school students to engage with and understand the art form.

The second part features the martial scene excerpt Mu Guiying's Marriage Proposal and the literary scene Chastising the Princess.

The third part is a demonstration segment, including a showcase of body movements.  It features how performers use costumes and props to convey symbolic representations, along with basic skills demonstrations such as kicking, cloud hands, and pulling the mountain.  This aims to enhance students' knowledge and interest in appreciating Cantonese opera.
