The programme is offered by Hong Kong Ballet in support of the "New to the Theatre: School Culture Day Scheme 2024/25".

About the Programme

The brand new production The Butterfly Lovers tells the widely known love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai in China.  Through intricate choreography, exquisite stage design, and the well-known music, the audience will be taken on a journey through their forbidden love.  Overcoming obstacles posed by their families and society, the lovers eventually face an inescapable fate.  The visually stunning and creatively designed sets will immerse the audience in a world that combines traditional and chic styles, showcasing the perfect fusion of dance and new Chinese aesthetics.

About the Arts Group

One of Asia's premier ballet companies, Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) is internationally recognised as a vibrant arts institution that represents Hong Kong's unique character.  Established in 1979 and led by Artistic Director Septime Webre, HKB has a dynamic repertoire performed by nearly 50 dancers from all over the globe and award-winning education and community programmes.
