About the Group

One Table Two Chairs Charitable Foundation aspires to preserve the beauty of traditional Chinese opera and relate them to modern life.  By giving a new look to Cantonese opera, it seeks to appeal to the younger generations and young non-Chinese-speaking people so as to widen and deepen the audience base for the art form.

About the Project

'Xiqu, Xiaoqu and BamBoo' comprises touring performances, exhibitions and talks that showcase the cultural essence of the traditional craftsmanship, folk customs and ritualistic 'plays for the gods' characteristic of Cantonese bamboo theatres.  Infused with Chinese music and oral history, the performances will introduce the audience to the multiple facets of Chinese operatic art.  Through interactive games in an exhibition, this programme will broaden participants' perception of intangible cultural heritage and connect it with our daily life.

The programme is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
