Hong Kong’s martial arts films enjoy an esteemed reputation around the world, some universally renowned as classics.  The films can be set in many different time periods, with fight scenes staged in a myriad of settings, from bamboo forests to city walls to enclosed dungeons.  Films are produced with the help of teams of behind-the-scene specialists like sound engineers.  This programme features short film, introducing behind-the-scene roles, giving students a better understanding of the work of foley artists as well as the creation of sound effects with simple tools.  Member of the Archive’s Conservation team will also offer insights into the principles of image creation as well as conservation technology, giving students a chance to handle celluloid films.
